Our names are Jason & Angela. Married in 2003 and began our food growing journey on the patio of our little apartment around 2005. We've been growing food together for over 15 years in a variety of methods from container gardening to in ground gardening and raised beds at our 1/2 home property now. We still use all the methods we have learned over the years to grow as much food as possible in a basic suburban setting. We bought our first chickens in 2015, they became our children, and have added more every couple of years since. We bring a simple faith based approach to our pursuit of food independence, believing that God desires people to grow food, love others, and live a simple life as much as possible. This is our life

First Harvest Of 2024 | Vegetable Harvest 2024 | Garlic Harvest 2024 | Harvesting Garlic 2024
We've been harvesting quite a bit in the past week or so, sweet peas and blackberries, and it's time to harvest our garlic and some onions. Normally we harvest garlic around July 4th but this year it's early, like everything else, and we need to get our 90+ heads of garlic harvested.

Living And Active

In Hebrews chapter 4 the Bible says that "the word of God is living and active" and that "it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart". How often do we expose ourselves to the word of God? How much do we let that living word of God into our hearts so that it can show us our real motives and attitudes? Email us: ArtOfCreationHomestead@gmail.com

These Are A Few Of Our Favorite Things
Переглядів 12414 днів тому
It's amazing what you'll go through to do the things that you really love. For example, we'll stay outside (in the cold sometimes) for over an hour to let our hens have some supervised free range time. We'll plant green beans over and over again if something happens to them so that we can have our coveted homegrown green beans. I'll hurt my knees and ankles getting low to the ground to plant an...
Don't Believe The Lies
Переглядів 19614 днів тому
Many people struggle with believing lies about themselves. It's something that many people in the church don't want to talk about but it's very real. Some believe themselves to be worthless while others believe they are ugly or stupid. No matter what, it's all a lie straight from the enemy himself. Jesus said that Satan is the "father of lies" and "when he lies he speaks his native tongue". Bey...
How Often Will Your Hen Lay An Egg | Do Chickens Lay An Egg Everyday | Backyard Chickens
Переглядів 14321 день тому
Last year (Spring of 2023) there were a lot of people buying baby chicks for the first time because of the egg shortage here in the US. So it's fair to believe that this year we have a lot of first time chicken keepers that are in their first spring with their hens. Some may believe that their hen will lay everyday (and maybe some hens will) but that's not the normal situation when it comes to ...

Wins And Woes From The Early Garden

Filter Your Thoughts
Переглядів 35121 день тому
In Hebrews chapter 3 the writer tells us to "fix our thoughts on Jesus". The idea that we can ONLY think of Jesus just isn't a reality. YES, we should absolutely think about Jesus as much as possible because when we think about Jesus and his character and how it relates to our situations then we can see our situations differently and allow our faith to impact our perspectives and we filter thes...

Great Harvest!!! God Bless Us All!!!
I've always planted potatoes. It sounds crazy but about my biggest excitement is finding huge amounts of potatoes! I just came across a lady and watched her video on potatoes. She bought her grow bags from the Dollar Tree and other Dollar Stores. She said the bags lasted through 2-3 years of use.
Nice harvest y’all! I didn’t plant garlic this year but tried onions and they’re doing great. Thanks for sharing Art of Creation Homestead
Your new subscriber friend
Very beautiful 😊sir i join you
YUMMY!
Beautiful harvest thx for sharing Keep growing God Bless
I always enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for sharing with us!
Sometimes, as the onion gets closer to harvest, the neck gets weaker, and a strong, steady wind can force all the onions over one way.
Love hearing the chickens! Have a blessed week. Wow, garlic was nice, mine was small.
Dónde puedo encontrar la receta en español?
How many plants per pot originally?
as a rule of thumb, we plant 1 seed potato per 5 gallons of soil. So a 10 gallon bag would be 2 seed potatoes and a 15 gallon bag would be 3 seed potatoes.
New subscriber here love your Channel
Very interesting
Thickened taters is what we call it here in NC and they are a staple. Awesome video, I feel that a lot of this stuff is becoming a lost art
Wow!!! Looks Great!!! God Bless Us All!!!
Thank you Ms. Lori!!!
I've been gardening and canning since I was a kid in Tennessee. I'm 62 now and I have never canned beets but this is the best video, it's simple, to the point and all the right information. Thanks and God bless youins.🙏🗡️🇺🇸
Thank you for your kind words
I quit eating ham and pineapple pizza and started eating pepperoni and banana pepper pizza years ago
I have an off topic question! How do you keep your chickens from not destroying your lawn from scritching and foraging?! We have a flock of 12, and the same size lawn as you, with nice centipede and bermuda grass, and if we let our flock into our yard, they'll scratch the lawn straight down to the dirt. Next thing we have no lawn and just dirt and sand. We live in a sandy part of NC.
Our yard is a tall fescue/weed/clover mix lol. I have over seeded with tall fescue some but we have a lot of different types of things growing that here in suburbia are considered weeds. The chickens love to eat all those things so they don't spend a lot of time scratching and digging. My assumption would be that they don't like to eat the grass you have growing so they scratch and dig for food....and a sandy soil would be easy digging for those chicken feet.
@artofcreationhomestead ah yes that makes sense!! Thanks so much!! We're prepping for the heatwave as well. 100 - 105 projected these next 5 days. And that's after a straight week of 90 - 95 already. My poor peppers are already scalded! 😮 good luck with the heat wave and thanks for the great tips!!
Garden looks good. We're getting tomatoes, squash, picked first cucumber and dug three of out potato plants.
It's been a good year so far here but we're a bit early to harvest too much just yet
Last year we started using the black woven weave fabric. We spent about 10 hours of weeding an almost acre garden last year. What a relief! We typically spent over a hundred hours of weeding. I’ll never not use the woven weave fabric, ever again. We are 62 and 68. What a life saved. 3:18
We used that ground cover last year and it just baked our soil. We're on a bit of a slope so that probably didn't help. All the water just ran down the slope and never really soaked through
Requirement seed
STIR IT!!! Sorry had to let that OUT! Beautiful recipe! Gonna HAVE TO TRY!!! THANKS!!! m
YEY ! The best simple, to the point instructions! Thank You! Been picking the berries, now I have the recipe I want !😃
This is so true. Once I got back in the Bible, He should me many areas I was in and showed me how to get out of them. thank you Jason!
AMEN Jason AMEN!!! God Bless Us All!!!
Doing your recipe on 16 June 2024 with nice fresh peppers in Missouri.
Tried these biscuits this morning for biscuits and gravy. They came out great! Thanks for the recipe.
I’m going to freeze some containers of ice right now. Here in northern Michigan it’s supposed to be 92°! We just put our chicken outside a couple days ago! Poor things.
Its gonna be stressful for them but they'll make it through ok
I'm in Dayton Ohio, getting read to, I turned my water heater down some, going to cook/boil eggs before HW hits, You should get a baby swimming pool for your chickens, Maybe a fan to for chicks, I hate hot weather, wish I was skiing, I will be watering everything every day, my 3 cats will be in AC but I worry about stray cats I care for, GO watermelon😍, hope you come out safe & sound, I wet my cats fur sometimes to help!! Last bad heat wave my dads fish pond suffered dead fish so don't forget them to
I've seen other people put their chickens in some shall cool water and honestly the chickens are miserable (in my opinion). Chickens don't like to have wet feet. They'll be ok in this weather but it will be a little stressful for them
Great Information Jason!!! We need to do a couple of those things!!! God Bless Us All!!!
Yep, gotta put forth a little more effort when it heats up outside
Your video was fun to watch and informative, thanks Jason and Angela 😊
We have fans in their run and coop too.
Jason, did you hear about the red dye that's injected in watermelons. Boy-O-Boy! Look that up. I sure do pray everyone knows about it, especially now with July 4th nearby
I haven't heard about that. Is it watermelons grown in the US or imported
@@artofcreationhomestead I feel like this is primarily an issue in India.

Wow!!! That is a first for us. We are so honored to have you watching. Welcome to our channel.
I tried to make them and as they fried they turned black. Could not fig out why.,, any ideas?
Great video! I am also in southwest Ohio. I live in both West Chester and on a working farm northeast of Cincinnati. What part of SW Ohio is your area? I love to visit apple orchards in the fall. Which one is your favorite?
I’ve been looking for the perfect cobbler for two days now!! Ding ding 🛎️ I found IT!!! Thank you for taking the time to post and sharing this wonderful recipe!!! ❤
That is a great idea to re-purpose okra stalks. What is the power tool you used to clean up the stalks?
I think it was just a jig attachment for my black and decker battery powered drill
Great Growing!!! It looks like you guys are going to have a Great Harvest!!! God Bless Us All!!!
It is exciting us to see how things are shaping up. Thank you Lori!
Can they be dried?
Who doesn't love holy Cheeses?
First time watcher, will be a long time watcher. Love your sage advice. I'm in California, Zone 9, 100+ for days. I was just going to give up and start earlier. Not now. Thanks
Thanks. Why do you have the netting? Rabbits? I'm dealing with rabbits!
Rabbits and every other manner of critter. One year we had rabbits, skunks, groundhogs, possums, and raccoons all eating on our garden. That's when we decided that electric netting was needed
@@artofcreationhomestead I didn't know there is electric netting! Did you make video about it?
My beans are starting to run out of steam. Don’t know what is going on.
